As a contemporary Native American artist, Keri Ataumbi draws from a rich cultural heritage and expresses her vision in the language of contemporary abstraction. Working with collage materials, like player-piano paper rolls, Ataumbi builds up a highly textured two dimensional surface that has a glazed ceramic like quality. Her minimal markings on top of this surface are informed by the specific conceptual series she is working on.
